After a series of challenging experiences in the public education sector, I came to a profound realization: the private sector offered opportunities more aligned with my goals and principles. My deep-rooted belief in work ethic, capitalism, and healthy competition found a natural home in this environment. This transition reflects a broader trend of empowerment in education, where individuals seek to make a more significant impact on students’ lives through faith-driven guidance.

Misalignment in Public Education

From the outset, I felt like a misfit among my colleagues in the public school system. It took time to accept that our work ethic and priorities differed significantly. While my passion for working with students burned brightly, driving my career choices, I found myself at odds with the prevailing culture. This experience highlighted my personal journey’s need for faith-based empowerment in education-career..

Challenges and Limitations

The public school environment presented numerous obstacles to implementing meaningful change and providing faith-driven guidance. My primary goal was to help students gain exposure and succeed, not to secure a comfortable political position disconnected from the needs of Jersey City’s youth. As the only counselor in the county, I had a personal stake in the outcomes, which unfortunately made me a target for unfounded rumors and privacy invasions. These experiences mirror some challenges in public education faced across the country, particularly in urban areas where faith-based empowerment and fair treatment for everyone are often lacking.

Unfair Treatment and Lack of Support

The system’s flaws became glaringly apparent as I faced numerous baseless claims against me. Despite none of these allegations originating from students or parents, I was never allowed to defend myself. The public nature of my medical records and the ease with which false information could be spread to further others’ careers created a hostile work environment. This emphasized the need for us to initiate and understand more supportive, more modern surgical and moral standards. It takes a village to raise one child however how is that possible when stakeholders tear down their best employees without reasonable cause or take the time to investigate both sides simply take the side of the majority and forget about the targetted professional missed and loved by all students they educate.

Hopes for the Future of Education

Despite these setbacks, I maintain a strong belief in being the change you want to see through faith-driven guidance. I hold onto hope that, in time, Jersey City students will receive the education they deserve. My vision for faith-based empowerment in education includes:

  • Providing students with the same exposure and opportunities as their peers across New Jersey
  • Preparing students effectively for college and beyond through faith-driven guidance
  • Fostering an educational environment that values friendly competition and teamwork
  • Upholding high standards of academic excellence while nurturing spiritual growth

While I couldn’t single-handedly change the entrenched system, where administrators with decades of tenure wielded unchecked power, I remain optimistic about the future of faith-based empowerment in education. The fear of reprisal that kept many silent should not be the driving force in education.

Moving Forward with Faith-Driven Guidance

This journey of challenges and realizations has led me to where I am today, committed to faith-driven guidance in education. By sharing my experiences, I hope to contribute to a broader conversation about educational reform and the importance of putting students’ needs first through faith-based empowerment. The private sector has provided me with a platform to continue pursuing my passion for empowering students, albeit through different channels. This shift aligns with growing support for parental empowerment and involvement in education, which can enhance opportunities for students and foster a more faith-centered approach to learning.

As we look to the future, it’s crucial to remember that education is not just about maintaining the status quo but also about inspiring growth, fostering creativity, and preparing the next generation for the challenges they will face. By staying true to these principles and embracing faith-driven guidance, we can work towards an educational system that truly serves its students and communities, empowering them through a combination of academic excellence and spiritual growth.
